A craft that has endured for centuries
Long before the advent of industrial dyes, Marrakech had already established itself as one of Morocco's most important centres for textile production. Today, many of these workshops remain family-run, with techniques passed down from father to son, sometimes for generations. Here, nothing is automated. Every dye bath, every rinse and every drying process relies entirely on the artisan's experience. A slight variation in temperature, a few extra minutes in the dye bath or a subtle adjustment to the pigment blend can completely transform the final shade.
Where colours are born
Before becoming a vibrant scarf or a beautifully coloured textile, every hue begins as a simple powder. Deep crimson, Majorelle blue, saffron yellow, vibrant fuchsia, warm ochre, violet and olive green... each pigment is carefully prepared before being blended in precise proportions. The fabric is then immersed in successive dye baths before being wrung out, rinsed and finally hung high above the alleyways to dry naturally beneath the Moroccan sun.
